  • Brig. T. Sailo Award

    Scholarship of excellence in Mathematics

When Brig T Sailo was a young boy studying in Serkawn ME School he underwent an epiphanic moment while studying Mathematics. From that time onward Mathematics became his passion. His ambition to become a professor in Mathematics was interrupted by the Second world war and he joined the army.

In an Interview many years later he said, “If I could start all over again, I would first want to be a mathematics professor, failing which I would become an army officer again”

Such being his passion for Mathematics, when he was the chief minister of Mizoram, he started an incentive award in Mathematics and Science for school children.

Mindful of his great love for Mathematics, his daughter Mrs Laldingliani (IRS Retd) and her husband Mr DP Singh (IAS Retd) decided to honour their father’s memory by setting up the Brig T Sailo Award.
